MARK RADCLIFFE - BBC RADIO 2 - WEEKNIGHTS FROM 10:30PM

1. You sound like you're thoroughly enjoying your new show at Radio 2, have you

settled in quickly?

Yes it does seem to have got to feel pretty comfortable quite quickly. i think it maybe

took until about week three to really get the measure of it - but i thought it might take

longer than that to be honest.

2. Will you be hanging out with Wogan, Wright and Woss now?

i've been on jonathan ross's show and he is a top bloke - very funny but very interested

in other people. not a self obssessed ego maniac at all. wogan is always very charming

and smiley. haven't seen steve wright yet tho i do know him a bit from my old days at

radio 1. we were never close.

3. For anyone who's not heard your new show, tell us about it briefly.

well that's simple - it's just good records and someone interesting to talk top who may

or may not also be a musician who performs. that's it really - with a bit of rambling

from me - but i really wanted to get as far from the comedy sketch culture of the mark

and lard show as i could.

4. Are there any plans to do any "one-off" shows with Lard?

none right now.

5. After having to play all that dance music at radio 1, are you not a converted dance

music fan?

i like ambient dance stuuf like the orb and orbital and a bit of the chemicals and that

sort of thing. i'm a big fan of kraftwerk - does that count?

6. You once again did some presenting from glasto. Everyone seems to think it was

the best ever. Was it?

i had better glastonburys in the early nineties to be honest - i met my wife there and

we had some blissed out time in the green fields. i think the year pulp headlined stands

out for me - 93 or 94 maybe. this year was good but i was a bit bored on the saturday.

7. Weren't you a bit miffed McCartney did do "The Frog Song"? (spot our error here!)

did paul mccartney do the frog song or do you mean was i miffed that he didn't? i was

working at the time he was on so i didn't pay much attention to be truthful. good

fireworks tho.

8. Cats or dogs?

dogs as a rule tho i don't own one - they're a bit of a pain aren't they. we have a cat

called rastus who's very independent and enigmatic. bit of a killer though.

9 Whats happening on the Shire Horses front now?

.nothing right now. or indeed ever.

10. Who's the best uk radio DJ at the moment? Apart from Marc Riley?!

i still like peel and jonathan ross is probably the sharpest presenter on his day. i do

like colin and edith too.
